One of the most successful players on the game show “Jeopardy” would say before betting in the Daily Double, “All in.”
He would then make the hand gesture of pushing all his chips to the center of the table mimicking a poker player betting everything he had. That gentlemen went on to win over $2 million and still holds all top ten spots for most money won in a single episode.
Why? He always bet big and took huge risks. His strategy can be a metaphor for our careers. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I’m not suggesting you start making career changing decisions and take risks without understanding and analyzing the consequences; however, at some point you need to get off the bench and into the game.
Don’t finish your career with regret. Decide to take some calculated chances. You might be surprised by the outcome.
